Folding Quadrat - 50cm size.
This hand crafted Australian made Quadrat is made from FSC Tasmanian Oak or salvaged timber and is collapsible for easy transport and storage. Each unit is coated with a marine grade, water-based clear finish.
Ideal for vegetation ground cover surveys, leaf litter surveys, soil particle size surveys and archaeological surveys. The 50cm Quadrat has 10cm increments and can be used with or without the additional 10cm aluminium Quadrat.
Assembly of the Quadrat is very straight forward. Three corners of the frame are fixed with spring loaded connectors, while the fourth is locked together with an attached wing nut. Simply swing each joint out to 90 degrees, one at a time to create a square. Bring the two open ends together at 90 degrees and push the black bolt into the hole of the other piece. Lock it firmly in place with the wing nut. The Quadrat is ready to use.
Disassembly is the reverse process to assembly. You may find collapsing the unit is made easier by winding the black nuts (toward the bolt head) on each corner to reduce spring compression. This can be done with your fingers. No tools are required for assembly or disassembly. Conversely, really rigid Quadrat corners are obtained by increasing spring compression at each corner.
